Welcome to the International Conference on Energy Transition for Climate Solutions: Targeting Sustainability and Security organized by the EU Horizon Europe-funded Strengthening Research in Armenia for Energy Transition toward Climate Solutions (STREACS) project, hosted by the American University of Armenia Acopian Center for the Environment. 

The international scientific conference will take place on March 20 – 23, 2027 in a hybrid format, with researchers joining on-site in Yerevan and online. The conference will host talks and poster presentations, and will provide a platform to present cutting-edge work, exchange ideas, and build partnerships locally and internationally. The conference is open to international researchers working on the topics of energy security and energy transition. We invite researchers of all levels to present their innovative research, particularly early-stage researchers. 

The STREACS International Conference on Energy Security for Climate Solutions will bring together researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in energy systems transformation. The goal of the conference is to disseminate information and create conversations around up-to-date research trends in energy and climate security, as well as introduce innovative tools and approaches for the professional development of researchers and research managers. This will be accomplished through:

Eligibility & Submission

Only papers that have not been previously presented at another conference or published in other conference proceedings or journals are eligible for submission.

The organizers expect to attract submissions in categories (with duration of presentation):

  • Poster Session with individual presentations

  • Full paper and talk: 8-10 pages per paper / 15 minutes per talk (+5 min for questions)

Abstract text should give readers concise information about the content of the article and indicate the main results obtained and conclusions drawn. The abstract is not part of the text and should be complete in itself; no table numbers, figure numbers, references or displayed mathematical expressions should be included. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.

Abstract Submission

Abstract submissions are due October 30, 2026. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to develop their abstract into a poster or a talk along with a full-length conference paper. Conference papers will be subjected to external single-blind peer review and will be invited for publication and presentation in a special issue of an international peer-reviewed journal on energy transition and energy security topics.

Cancellations:

Registration cancellations received by January 10, 2027 will receive a complete refund. Cancellations received between January 10 and February 28, 2027 will have a €50 processing fee deducted from their refund. About the EU Horizon Europe STREACS Project

STREACS is an EU Horizon Europe program focused on energy security and energy transition. This project enables the enhancement of Armenia’s research capacity to support the country’s efforts to transition toward clean and renewable energy while enhancing its energy security. The American University of Armenia Acopian Center for the Environment leads the STREACS consortium, in cooperation with the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, the Scientific Research Institute of Energy of Armenia, Maynooth University (Ireland), the University of Genoa (Italy), the University of Campania (Italy), and Artemat SRL (Italy).

The conference will take place in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.
